Current Positions

Senior Turbine Control Engineer

The primary focus of this role is to design and develop control algorithms for modern commercial wind turbines using a forward looking laser wind sensor instrument. Control algorithm development at CTW predominantly uses a combination of in-house tools, Matlab and Microsoft C/C++ development tools.
The majority of CTW control system projects involve new or established wind turbine manufacturers, sometimes requiring algorithm design only and sometimes algorithm design, software and commissioning support.

Senior Photonics Engineer

CTW is seeking an experienced photonics engineer to fill an open position in its product development team.

The engineer will be assigned a broad range of responsibilities associated with product development, transfer to production and support, spanning several product lines of field deployable LIDAR systems. Overseeing several projects and customer installations, the engineer will also be called upon to act as technical liaison and provide application specific support in collaboration with the end users forming a world-wide customer base.

Senior HW Engineer – High Speed Digital, FPGA

CTW is seeking a senior HW Engineer to fill an open position in its product development team to work on system design and projects integrating high speed digital and electro-optic modules.

This is a senior role, requiring an advanced Electrical Engineering degree, at least 8-10 years of industry experience, and specifically extensive experience in analog and high speed digital design including FPGA design, full system integration, etc. Additional experience with DSP and RF design, is also desired, but is not a firm MUST have.

Procurement/Contract Specialist

Procurement/Contract Specialist is responsible to prepare purchase orders and bid requests; maintain inventory accuracy and vendor delivery management. He/She is also responsible to support customers and vendors contract administration.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Duties Related to Procurement

  • Initiate Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Order generation / maintenance and vendor performance management.
  • Negotiate long term agreements with critical vendors.
  • Maintain service contracts for office equipment
  • Responsible for ensuring that inventory levels meet corporate stocking and replenishment guidelines.

Senior Electrical Technician

Catch the Wind, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Technician to fill an open position in its production team.

The technician will be assigned a broad range of responsibilities associated with the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and reworking circuit cards, electrical assemblies and sub-modules to be use in fiber laser amplifier systems and in laser wind sensor systems. Past experience with opto-electronic assembly as well as familiarity with electronic test equipment is strongly desired.

Lab Supervisor – Laser Wind Sensor

Lab Supervisor is responsible for manufacturing Laser Wind Sensors and electro-optic systems in a safe and professional manner.

Essential Job Duties

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • Manage the day to day operations of the system integration and test lab.
  • Maintain quality system files and training certification.
  • Inspect and maintain testing Equipment to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Data entry into the Production Planning Module computer program.
  • Prepare monthly efficiency reports for management.

Electrical Technician

CTW is seeking an experienced electrical technician to fill an open position in its production team.

The technician will be assigned a broad range of responsibilities associated with the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and reworking circuit cards and electrical assemblies to be use in fiber laser amplifier systems. Past experience with opto-electronic assembly as well as familiarity with electronic test equipment is strongly desired. This position requires 3-5 years of technical experience troubleshooting analog and digital circuitry. Must be able to read and interpret all testing documentation, including schematics, blueprints, work instructions, and test procedures. The ideal candidate must be capable of working with limited supervision and direction from engineering staff and must be a highly motivated self-starter.

Fiber Optic Technician

CTW is seeking an experienced (at least 3 to 5 years) fiber optics technician to fill an open position in its production team.

The technician will be assigned a broad range of responsibilities associated with the assembly and test of fiber optic assemblies to be use in fiber laser amplifier systems. Past experience with opto-electronic assembly as well as familiarity with test equipment such as optical power meters is strongly desired. Experience with passive and active fiber splicing, fiber routing, fiber management, and handling of electrical PCBs is required. The ideal candidate must be capable of working with limited supervision and direction from engineering staff and must be a highly motivated self-starter.

Hardware Engineer

Job Purpose
Integrates and tests opto-electronic systems. Produces hardware designs and modifications by identifying design objectives and issues; researching and developing hardware engineering techniques and approaches; verifying and validating designs; maintaining documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Determines hardware engineering design issues by studying product objectives and features; completing functional analyses; analyzing user and potential user input; evaluating similar and related products and systems.
  • Develops hardware design plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying hardware engineering concepts approaches, techniques, and criteria involving system-level architectural design, floor planning, board circuits, etc.; adapting and modifying design and engineering options; preparing diagrams; entering schematics; collaborating with related engineering design teams; evaluating components, materials, and suppliers; determining and establishing specifications.

Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose:
Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.
  • Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.

Test Engineer

Job Purpose

Assures system and sub-system performance by developing test strategies and plans; conducting and recording tests; recommending solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains test equipment by evaluating, specifying, and procuring new equipment; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for, or making, repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; analyzing new techniques; preparing equipment budgets.

Wind & Energy Analyst

This role will be divided between IT work and energy analysis with strong participation in tools design.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake energy production assessments, which include site visits, wind data processing and quality checking, correlation analysis, wind flow and wake modeling, review of energy losses, statistical analysis and produce a report.
  • Undertake site conditions assessments which include elements of the above but also a review of extreme wind speed, ambient and wake induced turbulence intensity, wind shear and temperature range.
