Manufacturing Engineer

Description & Responsibilities:

  • Design, direct, and coordinate manufacturing test processes for state-of-the art fiber optic technology - design test systems, debug and repair legacy test systems and provide general test support for product testing - understand the systems and documentation
  • Develop test setups and techniques in the lab for new hardware and for manufacturing
  • Experience with National Instruments Lab View, C, C++, Lab Windows CVI
  • Environmental Test. Develop and implement ESD, EMC/EMI, Transient Surge, etc tests according to
  • Knowledge of IEC or other standards.
  • Work with outside vendors for unit testing.
  • Generate all necessary test documentation according to AS9100 requirements
  • Skill in reading, editing, and analysis of schematic/electronic – fiber optic diagrams
  • Understand concepts of Training within Industry (Toyota Production System)
  • Knowledge of electrical assembly processes (SMT, Thru-Hole Soldering
  • Knowledge of coating processes
  • Knowledge of fiber optic assembly processes (cleaving, splicing, and module assembly and fiber layout)
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve test methods, utilizing knowledge of Lean/6 Sigma, tooling and quality control standards.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Confer with management, hardware and software engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline; Master’s preferred
