Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Description & Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing build and test processes for state-of-the art fiber optic technology
- Understand concepts of Training within Industry (Toyota Production System)
- Knowledge of electrical assembly processes (SMT, Thru-Hole Soldering)
- Knowledge of coating processes
- Knowledge of fiber optic assembly processes (cleaving, splicing, and module assembly and fiber layout)
- Develop, evaluate, and improve mechanical, electrical and fiber optic manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of Lean/6 Sigma product design, producibility materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing
capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate
production processes. - Provide manufacturing data
- Identify ways to reduce production costs
- Manage budget
- Work with regulatory bodies to ensure safety, environmental and design standards are met
- Applicable knowledge of workmanship standards
- Experience with control of nonconforming material
- Act as liaison between suppliers, design, and manufacturing
- Excellent analytical abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite / Lab View
- Excellent Management / Leadership skills
- Top Communicator
- Ability to work in fast-paced engineering environment

- Position reports to the Director of Engineering / Advanced Manufacturing
Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s preferred in Engineering
Experience: 7 years
