Signs technology agreement with SCADA Solutions

Catch the Wind Ltd. (TSX-V: CTW), developer and manufacturer of the Vindicator® laser wind sensor (LWS) and other wind sensing products, announced today that it has signed a technology development agreement with SCADA Solutions, Inc. (SSI), a provider of integration and monitoring solutions for renewable energy assets. SSI will work with Catch the Wind to integrate test units of the Vindicator® LWS to wind turbines specifically included in a field trial with Canadian Hydro Developers.

“Given the number of wind turbines currently installed around the world, an expanded base of quality technology partners will allow us to capitalize on significant retrofit opportunities for our laser wind sensor,” said Phil Rogers, President and CEO of Catch the Wind Ltd. “SCADA has earned a reputation for developing innovative solutions for renewable energy companies and we look forward to their efforts at integrating our Vindicator® Laser Wind Sensor to a wider array of wind turbines.”

Mark Merhab, President of SCADA Solutions, Inc. added: “This is a tremendous opportunity to collaborate engineering expertise to advance the development of laser-based wind sensor systems. Renewable energy companies around the world continue to seek out ways to improve production capacity from their wind assets through technological advances and this alliance is a significant milestone towards that goal.”

As announced previously, Catch the Wind’s trial program with Canadian Hydro Developers is designed to test the forward wind measurement and turbine control capabilities of the Vindicator® LWS for proper alignment of a turbine against oncoming wind in order to increase energy output and reduce equipment stress. Vindicator® LWS test units will be installed and integrated on eight of Canadian Hydro Developers total of 15 Nordex N60 1.3 megawatt wind turbines located at the Cowley North ecoPower Centre in Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada. The field trial will enable direct, side-by-side comparison of turbines not equipped with laser wind sensors with those equipped with the Vindicator® LWS.

The trial program commences with the final delivery and installation of the Vindicator® LWS test units. Phased delivery of the Vindicator® LWS test units is expected to be completed by December 31, 2009.
